Friedrich Baumann

Friedrich Baumann was born on January 1, 1893. He was a worker/laborer from Pommereinsdorf, Germany. He was sent to Auschwitz on June 20, 1941 for being gay, and died there less than a year later, on April 4, 1942, at the age of 49.

In his intake photo, Friedrich looks scared, yet resolute—a glimpse of the unimaginable terror and strength carried by so many.
